| 1. Physical Properties:

| Peridot has a hardness
of 6.5-7. The density is about 3.32-3.35 g/cm3. It has
strong birefringence with indexes of about n a 1.654,
nu 1.690. It has indistinct prismatic cleavage and often,
conchoidal fracture. |

| 2. Occurrence: |
| The island of Zebirget
supplies excellent Peridot. Others come from the United
States (Arinona), the Hawaiian Islands, Burma and Brazil. |

| 3. Appearance: |
| Many times confused
with Emerald this is a beautiful transparent green stone.

| 4. Uses: |
| Used to enhance the
power of Mercury, it can be used to curb the problems
created by a weak memory. This gem was considered to be
of great powers by ancient Egyptian kings. It was believed
that it could break the evil spell and could dig into
the mysteries of the darkness. |
