| 1. Physical Properties
: |
| It has a hardness of
5-5.5. The density is about 2.38-2.45 g/cm3, but may be
higher in the aggregates used as an ornamental material,
due to an abundance of foreign minerals. The refractive
index is about 1.50. |

| 2. Occurrence : |
| It is mainly found in
Afghanistan and Chile. Other sources are the Soviet Union
(Siberia), Burma, Angola, Canada (Labrador) and the United
States (California). It is also found in Italy. |

| 3. Appearance: |
| It is an opaque stone
of blue colour with while web like structures on it. Many
times it contains traces of gold on it which gives it
a beautiful look. Widely used in Astrology and Jewellery.

| 4. Uses: |
| It is said to curtail
the malefic effects of Saturn and it is used to fight
depression and feeling of dullness. It is very effective
against skin diseases and ulcers both internal and external.
Many people have faith that it has the capacity to give
unqualified success to one who wears it. This is especially
good for ladies engaged in music, art, dance, drama etc.
