| 1. Physical Properties:
|
| Topaz is very hard,
8 on the Moh's scale. It has a density of 3.52 - 3.56
g/cm3. |

| 2. Appearance: |
| Blue Topaz has uniform
sky blue colour. Its colour is mostly pale but sometimes
it is also intense blue in colour. Occasionally, it has
a grey or greenish tinge. These stones are mostly free
of inclusions. Oval is the most common cut but mixed cut,
step cut etc. are also used. |

| 3. Distinctive Features:
|
| Blue is colour, transparent
and hard. Topaz takes a high polish and makes a spectacular
jewellery stone. |

| 4. Occurrence: |
| It is found in Brazil,
the Soviet Union, the United States, Germany and Japan.
It is also found in Burma, Namibia and Nigeria. |

| 5. Uses: |
| It is a gem which induces
sleep and rest. It keeps the temper cool and makes one
generous and kind hearted. It improves the financial assets
and gives financial stability. This gem enhances sincerity
in all relations of life. |
